It is a grim reality that one of the most elusive images for the people of Thailand is that of their own country’s future. Thais have been largely absent in the critical task of imagining the cities, environments, and lifestyles of tomorrow. For too long, these visions have been hijacked by the transient promises of politicians who vanish with time.
Thai society, media, and education have failed to foster a tradition of debating the future of our urban landscapes. Where are the films, articles, novels, and exhibitions that challenge us to think boldly about what lies ahead?
Have we not grasped that by neglecting our role in shaping the future, we are surrendering it to the greedy fantasies of a handful of politicians? It is imperative that architects wield their talents to craft the future visions of our cities.
The time for complacency is over.
In our office, it has become a steadfast tradition to seize every opportunity to speak out about the "Future." We harness architecture as our medium, creating writings, images, and models for exhibitions, publications, and workshops. This is our way of ensuring that the dialogue about our future is bold, imaginative, and relentless.
